Interview

1. What is your favourite movie genre and why?
My favourite movie genre is horror as its exciting and keeps you on your toes. Horror films are always different and always have lots of twists which keep the audience interested. I love a good suspense. I like films that appear to go one way but end up going the opposite to what you thought.
2. What is your least favourite genre and why?
I would have to say my least favourite is documentries because they bore me, i have no interest in them at all. I like exciting films that you can really get in and i find it difficult to do so watching a documentry.
3. What is your favourite film? (from your favourite genre)
I have so many favourites from the horror genre but if i had to pick one i would have to say Saw because i have enjoyed all of the Saw films and they never disappoint. They build up the suspense so well, and there are so many twists in the films. Although it can be very gory which i don't usually enjoy in films, i can never take my eyes off the screen watching Saw.
4. What is your least favourite? (from your favourite genre)
My least favourite i'd say was Shrooms, it always seemed like something was going to happen but it never did. Pretty disappointing, it just didn't meet any of the aspects i love in a horror film.
5. What age certificate do you watch the most?
I generally watch films with the age certificate 15, this is because these films are good and as i love horror films, with the age being 15 it means that the film isn't too scary. I do sometimes watch films with the age certificate 18 as alot of films within this age certificate are very appealing. I don't tend to watch as many films with the age certificate 12 as they don't tend to be as exciting or as scary which is what i enjoy the most from films.
6. Do you base your decision at the cinema upon trailers and movie posters you have seen?
I do tend to base my decision on whether i watch a film or not upon trailers more than movie posters as you cannot tell alot about the film from a movie poster, but trailers give you an insight of the film and do tend to persuade you to watch the film if you like the look of it. Alot of the films i have watched at the cinema is because i watched the film trailer beforehand, so the trailers really do need to do the film justice.

Analysis
The results above show the feedback from a few of the participants out of 20 that answered my questionnaire. Participants ages ranged from about 12-18. This meant that the most popular film certificate was between 12 and 15 as most participants asked were old enough to watch them. The majority liked horror films with either thriller or slasher being their favourite genre which has helped me decide on what type of horror film i will be doing. Most participants respond to trailers because they give more of an insight of the films which influences them more than what posters or magazines would. I found that the main actor doesn't influence most people to watch a film as a famous actor doesn't necessarily make a film good or not.

First Draft Teaser Trailer

First Draft from Annie Byrne on Vimeo.

We decided on our plot for our first draft teaser trailer in our first team meeting. We based it in a school, with a teacher being the victim of a serial killer.

First Team Meeting

In our team meeting, we first had to decide what genre we were going to choose for our teaser trailer. We discussed the different types of genres and decided that first draft teaser trailer. We decided horror would be the best one as we are all interested in this genre and it would be more effective than most of the others. Our team decided our target audience to be a fifteen, this enables us to receive more feedback from our questionnaires and interviews, this also means we will have a wider audience. We gave each person in our team a role in creating teaser trailer; we had two actors, a director and a camera man. Then we had to decide on a storyline of our teaser trailer. We decided to base it on a teacher who is being followed by a serial killer in school.

Toy Story Inspirational Trailer

Toy Story Inspirational Poster

The image for this poster is quite a fun image that shows the characters personalities and an insight on the film. The image is simple but effective. It shows the relationship between the two characters who are the favourites of many. The text saying 'the toys are back' is a play on words of 'the boys are back'. This helps it stick in the readers mind.
